CourseWork

CourseWork was phased out at the end of Fall Quarter 2016 as part of the transition to Canvas, Stanford's new learning management system. CourseWork was retired on December 21, 2016.

The VPTL Canvas team migrated all CourseWork courses from Fall 2014 through Fall 2016 to Canvas. CourseWork content from Fall 2014 through Fall 2016 has been migrated to your Canvas Courses>All Courses list. Some earlier courses were also migrated by request.

The deadline for requesting migration from CourseWork has passed. Any additional content migration will be self-serve. See below for more details on accessing CourseWork Archive.

The CourseWork Archive site is now available at courseworkarchive.stanford.edu. Access to the archive site is by request only. Contact us to request access to the CourseWork Archive.

CourseWork was originally a Stanford-developed product. The last version of CourseWork (CourseWork v5) was based on an open source development effort, called the Sakai project. In 2003, Stanford University joined forces with a university consortium, which consortium of universities included MIT, UC Berkeley, Indiana University, and University of Michigan, to develop the next generation of teaching and learning tools for the higher education community. In turn, CourseWork v5 was released to the Stanford University community in Fall 2005.
