Having a video recording of your class is an invaluable way to see how your teaching appears to your students. Watching it with a professional VPTL consultant gives you an ideal opportunity to analyze your teaching and decide whether you want to make any changes.
Class Video Recording & Consultation
VPTL will arrange for Event Services to record your class for the purpose of teaching improvement. Please request a session at least one week prior to your desired recording date. (For faculty only, if it's less time than that, you may submit your request, and we'll try to fulfill it, though we can't promise.)
After the recording, VPTL will send you a link to your video. Our trained VPTL consultant will then meet with you after the class is recorded to go over the recording and offer suggestions.
Please note that VPTL's recording service is meant solely to help you to improve your teaching. The link we give you will be streaming-only and doesn't allow download. For other purposes, like creation of job search materials, please make arrangements with Event Services and note that they charge a fee.
Important: Stanford has a fairly strict policy governing the recording and/or broadcasting of lectures--this includes putting your recording online in Canvas or elsewhere. Be sure to review Stanford's course recording/broadcasting policy.
