Statistics in Medicine

Professor Kristin Sainani has introduced thousands to the use of medical statistics through this online course, with topics ranging from data description to statistical inference to specific statistical tests. Each unit of the course starts with a "teaser" question (“Should I be worried about lead in lipstick?” “Does eating red meat increase my risk of being in a traffic accident?”), and then works back to the underlying data. In the process, participants learn how to interpret and critically evaluate the statistics in medical studies. Statistics in Medicine has been run for Stanford students, for the general public, and for students of Continuing Medical Education.
