Organizational Analysis

Introductory courses on organizations are taught every year at Stanford across many disciplines: in the Graduate School of Education, the Graduate School of Business, and the Sociology Department. In this open online course, Professor Daniel McFarland provides an overview of the field through cases describing various organizational struggles: school systems and politicians attempting to implement education reforms; government administrators dealing with an international crisis; technology firms trying to create a company ethos that sustains worker commitment; and even two universities trying to gain international standing by performing a merger. The course, run on Coursera, was ranked by the Financial Times as the best MBA MOOC of the year and is now available in self-paced format.
