Classroom capture

Panopto is a self-capture and self-publishing teaching tool available to Stanford faculty, instructors, and teaching teams, allowing for the easy recording and sharing of courses, lectures, and presentations. Panopto is made available via VPTL’s Stanford wide site license and is accessible through the Canvas Learning Management System.

With Panopto, you can:

  • Create video content to auto-publish to your Canvas course page

  • Stream content live (40 second delay)

  • Create text-based live discussions with distant learning students (40 second delay)

  •  Upload pre-existing video content

  •  Create in-video quizzing and view results in Panopto and/or tie results to Canvas Gradebook

  • View video and course folder analytics

  • Create assignment folders where students can submit assignments via video

Highlights:

  • No file size restrictions

  • No download needed to view content

  • Web-based, only requiring download of a small application for self-capture

  • Accessible via Canvas
