STEM Lecturer Brown Bag Lunch Discussion

February 14, 2019 - 12:00pm to 1:30pm
408 Panama, Room 001

What Can I Do Today to Create a More Inclusive Community in My Classroom?

Join us for the next lunch in our series this quarter on creating inclusive classrooms. This discussion will focus on concrete, actionable suggestions that instructors can implement to help create a more inclusive and equitable environment.

We will host Dr. Cynthia Lee, a lecturer in the Computer Science Department, whose tip sheet on “What can I do today to create a more inclusive community in CS” gained broad circulation in the Stanford community a few years ago. After hearing from Dr. Lee, we will have a chance to discuss the strategies with colleagues.

  • Gain insights from Dr. Lee's teaching, research, and mentorship programs for creating inclusive environments
  • Develop an inclusion "toolkit" ranging from short, targeted interactions to lifelong habits
  • Get feedback from STEM lecturer colleagues on ideas to implement in your own classroom

Bring your lunch. We’ll bring the cookies & coffee. Join us for a lively discussion!

Save the dates for our upcoming meetings:

  • Monday, March 4
  • Wednesday, April 10
  • Monday, May 13
